Over time, road vibrations will begin to rattle our boards loose. In the event that you have a loose axle on your Nexus trucks, this guide will help you get everything retightened ready to ride.
Step 1: Remove M5 Set Screws
It is important to remove the TWO M5 Set screws as these lock the axle into the hanger. The axle cannot be removed or tightened if the set screws are not removed.
Step 2: Remove Motor Mounts - if applicable
If your rear axles are loose you will need to remove the motor mount to gain access to flats on the axle.
Step 3: Tighten the Axle
With a wrench, tighten the axle. If you are working on the rear trucks, you want to make sure the collar is firmly pressed against the face off the hanger to prevent your motor mount from jiggling.
Many riders add additional loctite to help keep the axles tight for longer.
Step 4: Reinstall Motor Mounts
Reinstall the motor mounts. Keep an eye on which rotational position your mounts are in, you want both mounts to be installed in the same position so they match.
Step 5: Reinstall M5 set screw
Reinstall the M5 set screws to lock your axles into the hanger.
